Alloy 600 is a standard engineering material for applications that require higher resistance to corrosion and heat. It has excellent mechanical attributes and has the desired combination of higher strength and workability. It has a higher nickel content that makes it resistive to many organic and inorganic components. This makes it virtually immune to chloride ion and stress corrosion cracking. Chromium composition drifts resistance to sulfur compound and offers resistance to oxidizing conditions in elevated temperatures.
This grade is not precipitation hardenable. However, it is hardened and strengthened by the cold working operation. It is a versatile alloy has led to use in a variety of application involving temperatures ranging cryogenic temperatures to above 1095 degree C. these are extensively used in chemical processing industry due to its resistance to severe chemicals such as acetic acids, nitric acids, phosphoric acids, alkalis, and other harsh chemicals.
The broad range of strength and hardness is attained with 600 alloys this depends on form and composition. When it is annealed, it exhibits higher strength in MPA.
These are processed from both hot and cold forging process. It is solution annealed or heat treated that furnish structures. After processing it is processed for industrial finishing process and also treated with the surface coating process.
All of the entire Inconel 600 Pipes range undergoes with several tests to ensure the maximum factor of safety. The tests are PMI test, hardness test, mechanical test, pitting corrosion test, destructive test, radiographic test, and ultrasonic test and intergranular corrosion test.
