What is grade attribute?
In most of the reducing applications, it has superior corrosion resistance ability. In mild corrosive environments, it is not corroded. The reducing elements will not affect this grade. It is utilized in highly oxidizing acids such as where SS containing molybdenum offers higher resistance. This performs well in sulfur-containing service that is mostly encountered in paper processing industries. These welded pipes can be used in high temperatures up to 38 degrees C. it has good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in phosphoric acids.
The alloy is non-toxic in nature that is ideal for food processing industries. It can handle hot organic and fatty acids in order to keep contamination is minimized. Moreover, it performs well in fresh water even that contains a high amount of chlorides and halides. The alloying elements assure it has higher resistance to pit and stress corrosion cracking. It has sufficient corrosive resistance to cause an intergranular attack in weld affected zone. These are treated due to their carbon content. The higher corrosion resistance ability is achieved by solution annealing or hot working process.
