About grade:
316Ti is a titanium stabilized version of 316 molybdenum austenitic SS and is widely used for manufacturing tubes. The 316 grade alloys are quite versatile in nature and exhibits good resistance to corrosion, general corrosion and excellent crevice corrosion resistance as compared with conventional Ch-Ni austenitic SS grades. Other than this, the 316Ti has good creep properties, good stress rupture, and excellent tensile strength at high temperature. The presence of high carbon in the grade offers good susceptibility to sensitization and there’s a formation of grain boundary carbides at high temperature environment.
The 316Ti with titanium addition offers good stabilization which is achieved by moderate temperature heat treatment. The presence of titanium in the grade reacts with the carbon which forms titanium carbides. The grade offers good resistance to corrosion, resistance to sensitization similar to 316L.
