Details about 317/317L alloy-
Grade 317 is the austenitic stainless steel that is nickel and chromium based with excellent corrosion resistant ability. The high content of molybdenum alloy is improving the superior pitting resistance of the grade. It is highly corrosion resistant alloy of 300 series and possesses the creep strength and high tensile strength properties at high temp. Grade 317L is the low carbon austenitic stainless steel that is nickel and chromium based. It can be used in the applications wherein it isn’t possible to anneal after the welding and also highly corrosion resistant is required. Also, it offers good oxidation resistant at an intermittent service at 1600 Deg F and 1700 Deg F at continuous temp.
