Stainless Steel 317 / 317L IBR Pipes & Tubes overview:
It is a molybdenum-bearing SS grade. In alloy 317L “L” represents the lower carbon version that provides outstanding corrosion resistance over other grades. Low carbon chemistry provides resistance to grain boundary precipitation (sensitization). It becomes non- magnetic in nature after the annealing operations. It has excellent resistance in a wide range of chemical media, especially in acidic chloride zone. It has high levels of chromium, molybdenum and nickel content that provides improved resistance to pitting and general corrosion. Due to the sufficient levels of molybdenum, it offers resistance to sulfuric acids up to 5% at temperatures 120 degree F.
It is readily weldable by a full range of traditional welding process except gas welding. It is weldable with and without filler materials.
It is susceptible to chromium carbide precipitation range in the high levels of chlorides and halides. It has good thermal temperature bearing properties. It is exposed to organic and inorganic compounds. These pipes and tubes are designed according to Indian boiler regulations.
