Alloy descriptions to know-
Grade 317 is austenitic nickel and chromium stainless steel alloy with the ability to resist general corrosion resistance. The content of molybdenum is resulting in improving the superior pitting resistant of the grade. It is the highly corrosion resistant alloy of 300 series and is possessing creep strength and high tensile strength properties at high temperature.
Grade 317L is the alloy of low carbon content stabilized with nickel and chromium stainless steel. It is the alloy that is used in the applications where it isn’t possible to anneal after the welding and where corrosion resistant is needed. The best thing of this alloy is that it gives the good oxidation resistance at an intermittent service and at continuous services temperature.
