Technical terms:

Generally, alloy 904L is called UNS N08904 grade. It is a super austenitic SS grade developed to offer higher corrosion resistance ability to a wide range of moist environments. This grade is coupled with chromium content and has a composition of nickel, molybdenum, and copper. This combination of alloying elements assures good corrosion resistance. It has high alloyed chemistry that provides good chloride stress corrosion cracking, general and pitting corrosion resistance ability superior to conventional grades.

Originally, it is designed to withstand in environments that contain high and dilute amount of sulfuric acids. It also offers good resistance to organic and inorganic acids such as phosphoric acids.

Fabrication practice:

Like other conventional SS grades, it is easily fabricated and welded the machines associate with grades. These are both hot and cold formed. The mainly hot forming process is preferred in the nominal temperature 1562- 2102 degree f. Also this temperature is recommended for hot working process. However, it is also processed from solution annealing and tempering process. The alloy is quenched directly thereafter heat treatment process.

In addition to molybdenum and nitrogen, it became more powerful processing equipment. It has good work hardening rate. Manufactured tubes are processed for industrial finishing process to remove heat tints and unnecessary chips.

After fabrication practice products undergo several certainty tests that assure its functionality in severe applications. Furthermore, customers also demand any special tests as per their application requirements.
